Yah! Archived Data!
Exciting stuff. . .
I managed to find some free time today, and so have moved all of the blogs from my progressions v.1.1 over to the db. I decided not to move the previous comments over though, at least for now. I figure I should focus on rebuilding some of the content like my resume and project portfolio etc. . .
Further Skin v.0.7
Well the site is getting there. . . nothing too special, trying to keep things nice and simple. Probably add a logo or watermark as well. I will probably opt to place the page in a shadowed, centered section like I originally planned. Lots of little layout fixes still needed too.
ようこそ!
The flexibility of drupal is fantastic! The encoding is UTF-8 and so input/output of Japanese is piece of cake. Searching is the only concern as the current search module works on tokens, where Japanese doesn't use any spaces. There are some fixes out there, so it should be a piece of cake to get that functionality in place.
In the mean time, the Japanese section will act as a 'learning diary'. I've always felt that the best way to learn something is to teach it to someone else. If you can't explain a particular point, how can you really understand it, right??
Deal On Webhosting
Webhosting companies are a dime a dozen. The majority of them oversell their resources chasing the almighty dollar. I think I've found one of the few exceptions.
As always, I had to conduct some research before committing. Maybe its that I enjoy bargain hunting (aka I'm cheap), or researching in general, but it seems I am always suspicious that there's a better deal out there. Actually, come to think of it, I just hate the feeling that I've just bought a product or service from somewhere when an identical product is cheaper somewhere else.
So I head over to the web hosting talk forums and eventually ended up doing a host quote. I received a lot of replies, including one from Micfo.com. The price was certainly comparable to dreamhost or lunarpages, but of course I hadn't heard anything about them. I started to search the forums a little deeper and found some good reviews. There were a couple bad reviews, but after reading them, it could easily be concluded that it wasn't the hosts fault at all.
